A march in Madrid again called for support for Ceuta and general elections

Madrid was the scene this Saturday of a new demonstration in support of Ceuta, amid the migration crisis the autonomous city has been facing since late July. The protest, called the II March for Dignity and organized by Sociedad Civil Española, moved through the center of the capital between Plaza de Cibeles and the Moncloa area.
The route began at 10 and passed along Calle de Alcalá, Gran Vía and Calle de la Princesa, with arrival scheduled for around 14 at the Arco de la Victoria, on Avenida de la Memoria. There, the organizers planned to read a manifesto and close the event with the national anthem.
The demonstration had the backing of PP and Vox. Miguel Tellado had confirmed the Partido Popular’s participation to call for general elections. Santiago Abascal also expressed support for the protest and, according to ABC España, said during the march that “Ceuta remains invaded because Sánchez continues to be Morocco’s servant.”
According to ABC España, nearly 200 civil society organizations, associations, foundations, forums, parties and unions joined the protest, according to the organizers. The same outlet said the platform is driven by Marcos de Quinto and Alejo Vidal Cuadras.

The demonstration affected some of Madrid’s busiest roads, with possible closures, delays and detours along the route and on connecting streets. The official forecast was that the greatest impact on traffic would be concentrated between 10 and 14, although the operation could begin earlier and extend afterward.
In a previous demonstration, held on September 2, around 50,000 people attended, according to the Government Delegation.
