Sumar threatens to skip the Council of Ministers if the housing decree does not move forward
The bloc made up of Movimiento Sumar, Izquierda Unida, Más Madrid and Comuns again pressed the PSOE to approve a housing package on Tuesday. It is demanding that there be no partial solutions after the Maricarmen case.
Sumar warned that its ministers could skip next Tuesday’s Council of Ministers if the Government does not approve a housing decree with substantive measures to address Spain’s housing crisis. The position was set out in a joint statement by Movimiento Sumar, Izquierda Unida, Más Madrid and Comuns.
The forces in the bloc called on the Executive to move ahead with a package of measures that includes an enhanced extension of rental contracts, protection for families facing evictions and vulture funds, regulation of speculative uses such as tourist apartments and fraud in seasonal or room rentals, as well as the automatic renewal of contracts. They also added a request for the recovery of Maricarmen’s home.
