De La Espriella reported 72 arrests in one day and intensified the offensive against the Acsn in Santa Marta

Colombia’s president, Abelardo De La Espriella, reported this Friday, September 25, that in the last 24 hours there were 72 arrests and six people identified by the government as “narco-terrorists” were killed, according to an official tally released by the president himself on his X account and reproduced by El Tiempo Colombia.
According to that official report, one of the highlighted operations took place in Santa Marta, where four people wanted for extradition by the United States were detained. In that operation, more than 17,000 gallons of liquid supplies associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

According to the same outlet, the death of José Luis Pérez Villanueva, alias Cholo, identified as the group’s second-in-command, triggered a 48-hour armed strike with vehicle burnings, shootouts and threats against merchants.
El Tiempo Colombia, with data from EFE, recalled that after those events De La Espriella ordered Santa Marta militarized and reinforced the presence of the Public Force with more than 500 soldiers and 600 police officers in the city and in Ciénaga. He also announced the transfer of about 76 prisoners who, according to the government, have ties to the Acsn.
