Fernando Pereira said the Frente Amplio is willing to discuss nighttime raids, but maintains reservations
The president of the Frente Amplio said his political force can talk about a constitutional reform, although he believes it will not by itself solve security problems. He also called for an agreement to appoint the next prosecutor general.
The proposal to promote a new constitutional reform text to authorize nighttime raids returned to Uruguay’s political agenda after the president of the Republic met with party leaders. According to Medios Públicos Uruguay, the proposal was conveyed by the president of the National Party Board, Álvaro Delgado.
In that context, the president of the Frente Amplio, Fernando Pereira, said on La Escucha that his political force is willing to take part in talks “with an open mind,” although he said that within the FA there is a prevailing position against the initiative.
