The Uruguayan Government Maintains Negotiations Over the Green Hydrogen Plant in Paysandú

The Executive Branch reaffirmed in recent hours that it is still negotiating the project to install a green hydrogen plant in Paysandú together with HIF Global, according to Medios Públicos Uruguay.
According to that outlet, the official position adds to the efforts Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin is carrying out with his Argentine counterpart to relocate the plant and thus close one of the main differences between the two countries.

In remarks to La Escucha, the mayor of Paysandú, Nicolás Olivera, said the company is aware of the possibility of relocation because it is part of the negotiation with the Government. “It should have already been resolved. The issue cannot go on any longer; the hammer has to come down,” he said.
Olivera also said that “the Government is willing to move forward” with the installation of the plant, although he questioned the role of the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Fernanda Cardona, by stating that she “has not been one of the most facilitating figures on this issue.”
