Roberto González again questioned Hernán Rivas’ continued presence in the JEM

Deputy Roberto González again referred to the case of Hernán Rivas and said the problem was not limited to the legislator’s personal situation, but directly affected the institutional standing of the Jury for the Prosecution of Magistrates.
According to ABC Color, González recalled that as early as 2023 he had considered the controversy over the legitimacy of Rivas’ law degree unsustainable. In that context, he said that even if the Ministry of Education and Sciences were to give it its approval, his position was that the situation had no way out.
The legislator said responsibility should not be placed entirely on Rivas and went so far as to suggest that he could even be a victim of the episode, arguing that he does not grasp the institutional gravity of the case.
