President Santiago Peña rejected the claim that the dispute within the ruling coalition means Vice President Pedro Alliana is leaving Honor Colorado and said, according to Última Hora, that his 2028 candidacy remains in place.

According to that outlet, Peña also said his relationship with Horacio Cartes is good, despite the former president’s public criticism of the administration and the request for information promoted from the Senate to the bank linked to the presidential family.

In response to press questions, the president sought to frame the tension as a political dispute and called for focusing on what, in his view, unites the Partido Colorado. In that context, he said his priority is the municipal elections on October 4 and stressed that the ANR is the only party with internal primaries.

Última Hora also reported that Peña criticized the media for deepening the differences and described himself as a leader who seeks to add support and avoid divisions. In that line, he called for concord and downplayed the internal clashes, a stance he had already expressed on Wednesday when he called for serenity and common sense.

During an official event in Paraguarí, the president praised both Governor Norma Zárate and Juan Carlos Baruja, in a gesture aimed at displaying unity amid the movement’s internal dispute. According to Última Hora, he also highlighted the working relationship built with Baruja and recalled the difficulties he faced during Mario Abdo’s administration.
