Chamorro highlighted his council slate and called for a municipal policy focused on solutions
The candidate for mayor of Ciudad del Este for the ANR said his team combines experience and renewal. He also called for a Municipal Board with greater closeness to the neighborhoods and less political confrontation.
The candidate for mayor of Ciudad del Este for the National Republican Association, Rigoberto “Rigo” Chamorro, told La Nación/Nación Media that his municipal project brings together experience and renewal in the slate of candidates for the Municipal Board.
According to him, the team is made up of young people, professionals and people with experience who know the reality of the city. In that context, he said he is seeking councilors who study projects, oversee, propose and work alongside citizens, rather than limiting themselves to backing decisions.
The Municipal Board of Ciudad del Este has 12 seats. The Colorado slate is made up of Silvio Morel, Isra Barreto, Ernesto “Poroto” Guerin, Federico González, Javito Ocampos, Juan Ángel Núñez, Karen Barreto, Hugo Barreto, Blas Guerrero, Wilberto Cabañas, Osvaldo Sánchez and Osvaldito Abadie.
Chamorro also said the city needs leaders with a permanent presence in the neighborhoods, capable of listening to complaints and accounting for their work. Along those lines, he stressed that his proposal aims for a modern, efficient and close municipality.
Ahead of the October 4 elections, the candidate said his group seeks a solid representation on the Municipal Board to advance his government plan, although he avoided centering the campaign on the number of seats. He also said the goal is to win residents’ trust with proposals, presence and grassroots work.
In the interview with La Nación/Nación Media, Chamorro said Ciudad del Este requires “less sterile confrontation and more ability to build solutions.” He also said that, if he reaches the mayor’s office, he will seek coordinated work with the elected councilors, with priorities in infrastructure, services, planning, road safety, public spaces, economic development and attention to the neighborhoods.
