The Uruguayan government expects to announce its plan for an offshore patrol vessel between October and November

The Uruguayan government is moving ahead with a new stage to complete the acquisition of an offshore patrol vessel, after voiding the contract with the Spanish shipyard Cardama. According to Subrayado, the prosecretary of the Presidency, Jorge Díaz, said work is under way on a “concrete action plan” and estimated that the public announcement will be made in October or November.
Díaz declined to go into detail about Cardama’s situation because of the existence of a civil lawsuit, an international arbitration process and criminal complaints filed by the government.
