Front Amplio councilors in Soriano seek Court of Accounts intervention over workshop contracts

Front Amplio councilors in Soriano resolved to request the intervention of the Court of Accounts over the Intendencia’s contracting of private mechanical workshops, amid questions about the administration of Guillermo Besozzi.
According to Medios Públicos Uruguay, Front Amplio councilor Damián Alonso said that between January 2021 and February 2026 the municipality allocated about 207 million pesos to 38 private mechanical workshops for repairs to machinery and vehicles in the municipal fleet. According to that claim, the figure is equivalent to nearly 5 million dollars.
Alonso also said that one of those workshops received close to 1 million dollars. He also stated that, after those data became public, they received information from citizens and Intendencia officials indicating that the business was not operating at the address declared in the documentation submitted by the municipality itself, but on the outskirts of Mercedes.
Still according to what the councilor told La Escucha, that workshop operates within a property owned by Raúl Bruno, deputy to Intendente Besozzi.
In light of that situation, the Front Amplio councilors’ caucus decided to submit a request for the Court of Accounts to intervene.
