The Renovación Popular lawmaker, Roxana Rocha, presented a proposal to specify which matters could be included in a possible delegation of legislative powers to the Executive Branch, amid the debate underway in the Peruvian Congress.
According to El Comercio Perú, the lawmaker said on X that she sent that “alternative legal formula” to the Constitution Committee, chaired by Giannina Avendaño, so it could be considered during the review of the Government’s request.
Rocha said the delegation of powers must be analyzed “responsibly” and questioned why her proposal, previously submitted to the Justice and Human Rights Committee, had not been evaluated or included in the debate, despite her complaints.
She also asked Avendaño to have her proposal reviewed together with the other proposals under discussion and called for a technical assessment “without political bias,” within a framework of dialogue.
According to El Comercio Perú, last Friday the spokespeople for Juntos por el Perú, Obras and Ahora Nación sent a letter to the head of the ministerial cabinet, Luis Galarreta, asking him to submit a new bill delegating powers to the Chamber of Deputies of Congress, limited to citizen security and to addressing the El Niño phenomenon.
