The Asunción Municipality reports 430 interventions at Mercado 4 in the first year of administration

The Municipality of Asunción reported that during the first year of Mayor Luis Bello’s administration, 430 improvements were carried out in different areas of Municipal Market No. 4.

According to the city government, the figure was communicated by the director of Zonal Markets, Alejandro Luis Buzó. The work focused mainly on sales stalls and included painting, repairs, welding, shutter fixes and the replacement of deteriorated structures or materials.

The official report also noted progress in the installation of internal roofing in several sectors. According to the Municipality, the first 50 meters of this solution are already under way, designed to protect merchants and shoppers from rain and sustain commercial activity.

The interventions cover internal streets and areas located on República de Colombia, Battilana, Levera, Rodríguez de Francia and Perú. On República de Colombia, booths with semi-perforated sheets and new shutters were also added, a measure that, according to the city government, aims to strengthen security and make firefighters’ work easier in the event of a fire.

The Municipality added that it is also working on a traffic management plan for Rodríguez de Francia avenue, with technical support from the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University. The proposal, it said, seeks to prioritize pedestrian circulation and organize vehicular movement in an area where situations such as double or triple parking are common.

According to the official information, Mercado 4 covers more than 300,000 square meters and is one of Asunción’s main commercial centers.
