IPS Seeks to Activate Collection from the Ministry of Health Over a Debt of More Than USD 70 Million
The president of the Social Security Institute, Derlis León, said there are conditions to move forward with a compensation mechanism with the health ministry. The debt corresponds to services and care provided to uninsured people during the pandemic.
The Social Security Institute considers that the conditions are in place to begin collecting from the Ministry of Public Health for the expenses generated by care and health services provided to uninsured people during the covid-19 pandemic.
According to La Nación Paraguay, the head of the IPS, Derlis León, spoke about the issue after a meeting with acting president Pedro Alliana.
León said that, according to the reports he gathered, the debt exceeds USD 70 million. He also explained that, since these are two institutions that work together, the possibility of compensation linked to cooperation in services or medicines is being analyzed.
In statements cited by La Nación Paraguay, the official said the current scenario is favorable to move forward with that compensation mechanism.
