Estefanía Laterza presented her credentials before Donald Trump at the White House

Paraguay’s ambassador to the United States, Estefanía Laterza de los Ríos, presented her credentials before President Donald Trump in a ceremony held at the White House, formally accrediting her as head of mission to that country.
According to an official report from Paraguay’s Foreign Ministry cited by ABC Color and La Nación Paraguay, during the meeting the diplomat underscored the need to continue strengthening ties between the two countries and to open new opportunities for cooperation. She also conveyed greetings from President Santiago Peña and from the Paraguayan people.
According to the same official source, Trump wished her success at the start of her duties and expressed his willingness to continue working with Paraguay in areas of common interest.
ABC Color and La Nación Paraguay noted that Laterza de los Ríos is a career diplomat, a lawyer, and has held the rank of ambassador since 2018. She currently heads the Diplomatic and Consular Academy “Carlos Antonio López” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
ABC Color added that she has more than 30 years of experience and that this will be her first posting as ambassador and head of mission in the foreign service. It also reported that she replaces Gustavo Leite in Washington, who left the post in July to return to his seat in the Senate.
