Clash Between Rafael López Aliaga and Samuel Daza in the Lima Municipal Debate

Rafael López Aliaga and Samuel Daza held a heated exchange during the second session of the Lima Municipal Debate 2026, held on Tuesday, September 22, by the National Jury of Elections, according to El Comercio de Perú.
During the clash, Daza questioned his rival over the presence of candidates with criminal convictions or records in his party and cited a total of 110 cases. López Aliaga responded that the JNE system had delivered lists without objections and said that, once the situation became known, he suspended the membership of those 110 people.
In that context, López Aliaga also reproached the Fuerza Popular candidate for, in his view, moving away from the political line of his bloc. According to El Comercio, he said that from his congressional caucus they have been supporting the government.
In his reply, Daza returned to Lima’s municipal administration and criticized previous campaign promises. He said the city faces problems of traffic, extortion and contract killings, and added that the upper areas of the hills were left aside.
At the end, López Aliaga questioned the security policy of Keiko Fujimori’s government and also pointed out that resources continue to be allocated to Petroperú. He also defended his administration at the head of the capital’s municipality and said he focused on assistance to communal pots and popular soup kitchens.
