Ciudad del Este announces removal of political signs on main avenues

The Municipality of Ciudad del Este reported that it will remove political signs installed on the city’s main streets and avenues, amid repeated complaints over the visual pollution generated during the election campaign.

According to ABC Color, in some areas the structures affect visibility at intersections and in vehicular traffic zones. The Municipality said the operation will be carried out by the Municipal Services Directorate and the Asphalt Plant Directorate.

The work will begin on San José avenue and then progressively move on to other avenues in the capital of Alto Paraná during the week. The intervention, according to the Municipality, is part of ordering and maintenance tasks for public spaces to clear the main roads and improve traffic flow.

The Municipality also said that owners who wish to reuse the materials may remove them on their own before municipal work begins.

According to ABC Color, the election propaganda period for the municipal elections in print media, radio and television began on July 16 and will run until October 1, in accordance with article 290 of Law No. 7135/23. The outlet added that, usually, the removal of propaganda on public roads is reinforced with the start of the electoral ban, although in this case the Municipality frames the measure within urban maintenance actions.

ABC Color also recalled that in May 2026 the Ministry of Public Works and Communications carried out an operation in the microcenter of Ciudad del Este and removed 57 advertising structures, in compliance with Law No. 5016/14 on Traffic, which considers the installation of elements that obstruct visibility or distract drivers a serious offense.
