A QSocial survey cited by Perfil indicated that three in ten people who chose Javier Milei in the 2023 first round now disapprove of his performance as president. According to that survey, that segment accounts for 12% of the electorate and was defined by the consultancy as the group of “libertarian repentants.”

According to the report, the distancing of that group is not explained by the president’s confrontational tone, but by their assessment of the effects of his administration. QSocial said that style was already part of the 2023 election campaign and therefore does not appear as the main reason for the current disillusionment.

Among those who moved away from the governing coalition, 91% believe Milei harms the most vulnerable sectors and 89% think the effort associated with the adjustment was not worth it, according to Perfil. In addition, 62% say a possible victory by the President would be worse for the country than a Peronist win.

The study also identified a social trait within that universe: 31% of the so-called repentants have completed only primary education. Still according to QSocial, that figure shows a greater presence of the phenomenon in lower-income sectors and among people with lower educational attainment.

In the overall picture captured by the survey, 55% gave a negative assessment of the country’s situation and 59% said Argentina is worse off than when Milei took office. At the same time, 75% of households said they had cut spending to make ends meet and 60% said they had no savings capacity.

Despite that backdrop, approval of the presidential administration stood at 35%, one point higher than in the previous measurement, while disapproval reached 59%. The consultancy attributed that relative stabilization to an approach by PRO voters and independent sectors.

According to Perfil, Lucas Klobovs, director of Public Opinion at QSocial, described a scenario of heterogeneous economic behavior, with some individual improvements coexisting with still-negative overall indicators. The survey was conducted between August 7 and 26, 2026, on 1,645 effective cases, with a margin of error of +/- 2.4% and a confidence level of 95%.
