A PLRA leader called for the expulsion of five members from Valenzuela for backing another candidate

A political dispute in Valenzuela, in the department of Cordillera, has opened a new internal conflict in the Authentic Radical Liberal Party. According to La Nación Paraguay, leader Mirtha Fernández Yegros filed a complaint before the PLRA Conduct Tribunal seeking the expulsion and removal from the party registry of five local leaders.
The complaint was addressed to Edgar Villalba, president of that party body. It accuses the members of violating internal discipline, disloyalty and serious breaches of the party statute, according to what was published by La Nación Paraguay.
Those named include former deputy and former senator Agustín Amado Florentín Cabral; municipal councilors Federico Martínez Villalba and Gloria Estela Acuña Espínola; Guillermina Peralta de Samaniego, an official at the Civil Registry of Persons in Valenzuela; and Juan Carlos Chávez Romero, a contracted official of the Electoral Registry/TSJE.
The filing states that the five would have publicly backed the candidacy for mayor of Rodrigo Alfredo Kirchhofer González through social media, meetings and campaign events. According to the complainant, he is a member of the National Republican Association who is running through an independent movement.
Fernández Yegros also requested the precautionary suspension of the accused members’ affiliations while the internal process moves forward. In the document, cited by La Nación Paraguay, she said those actions affect the institutional image, internal discipline and democratic values upheld by the PLRA.
