Sinamed to decide in assembly whether to accept preliminary agreement with the Government and end the strike

The National Union of Doctors of the MSPyBS called for this Wednesday an extraordinary assembly in which it will submit to its members the preliminary agreement reached with the Government, La Nación Paraguay reported. The decision emerging from that meeting could render moot the national strike announced for September 21 and 22.
According to that outlet, the meeting will have a first call at 7:30 p.m. and a second call at 8:30 p.m., at the headquarters of the former Metropolitan Seminary, on Kubitschek Avenue No. 693, between 25 de Mayo and Celsa Speratti, in Asunción.
According to La Nación Paraguay, the assembly was convened to analyze four points agreed on Monday in a meeting with President Santiago Peña, Vice President Pedro Alliana and health authorities.
Among the points included are a salary adjustment with a floor of G. 2 million for each labor link for permanently contracted professionals; commitments to improve supplies, medicines and the hiring of health personnel in hospitals; procedures related to vacancies and planned permanent staff; and an additional allocation of G. 1 million for work on holidays starting in January.
The union’s board said it will recommend that the plenary approve the document, La Nación Paraguay noted, with the aim of deactivating the forceful measure.
