Officialist senators Gustavo Leite and Antonio Barrios posted almost at the same time on X an identical message of support for Horacio Cartes, according to Última Hora.

According to that outlet, both also shared the same image of support along with a brief phrase in which they said they had spoken with the leader and that Honor Colorado remained “stronger than ever.”

Última Hora indicated that lawyer Ezequiel Santagada was among the first to react and wrote on X that two of the people closest to Cartes had posted the same tweet in unison.

The newspaper also noted that the posts appeared shortly after the meeting Cartes held with Vice President Pedro Alliana, also a ruling-party presidential hopeful.

That meeting took place after Cartes reiterated for the second time that Juan Carlos Baruja should be part of the ruling-party ticket as vice president ahead of the 2027 presidential primaries, always according to Última Hora.

Cartes’ public stance prompted an extensive post by Alliana on social media, in which he asked for time and autonomy to make that decision, the outlet added.

Among the names that appear as alternatives to Baruja are Raúl Latorre, César Cesarito Sosa and Marco Riquelme, according to Última Hora.
