Milei Will Meet with Marco Rubio in New York, and the Government Rules Out a Meeting with Trump for Now
Casa Rosada confirmed a meeting between the President and the U.S. secretary of state during the UN General Assembly. At the same time, it lowered expectations of a new Washington gesture on the Falklands.
Javier Milei will travel to New York to take part in the UN General Assembly with one meeting already confirmed on his schedule: a meeting with Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state. According to Todo Noticias and iProfesional, the information was confirmed by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno at a press conference in Balcarce 50.
Quirno also said that for now no meeting between Milei and Donald Trump is planned. According to what both outlets reported, the official explained that not all bilateral meetings have been finalized yet and attributed the absence of that meeting to the intensity of the schedules.
Regarding the meeting with Rubio, Quirno said it is relevant because of the shared agenda between Argentina and the United States and stated that the relationship with the White House has been deepening. Regarding Milei’s speech before the UN, the foreign minister declined to provide details, although he anticipated that it will be consistent with his previous interventions. According to both outlets, the official said the President will once again maintain that same line of arguments.
