According to ABC Color, Miguel Prieto took part in a political event in San Lorenzo to express his support for the opposition alliance that nominates Luz Bella González for mayor and for the Yo Creo council slate, headed by Ilusión Peralta.

During the meeting, Peralta called on party leaders and residents to support the opposition candidates in the October 4 elections and raised the need to end the long hegemony of the National Republican Association in the municipality.

ABC Color noted that González is the opposition’s consensus candidate in San Lorenzo, while for the City Council there will be several opposition slates. The outlet said the PLRA is fielding its own slate, as are Yo Creo, the Unite por San Lo alliance and the Alianza Acuerdo Guaraní. By contrast, the ANR is running a unified slate.

In that context, the former mayor of Ciudad del Este predicted an opposition victory and said that Peralta will be the most-voted councilwoman, in addition to stating that González will be the next mayor of San Lorenzo.

In his speech, Prieto also leveled criticism at the government, the judiciary and Vice President Pedro Alliana, whom he mentioned directly while questioning a possible presidential bid. He also referred to ANR leader Horacio Cartes and linked the October municipal race with the political scenario of 2028.

According to ABC Color, in San Lorenzo former mayor Felipe Salomón, of the Colorado Party, is seeking to return to office in a district considered historically aligned with that political force.
