Latorre said he has no data on a possible change of Supreme Court justices

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Latorre, said he does not have any firsthand information about a possible offensive to replace justices of the Supreme Court of Justice and noted that, so far, what he knows are press reports, according to ABC Color.
According to that outlet, the speculation points to a possible move by the cartismo against Víctor Ríos, Gustavo Santander Dans and Manuel Ramírez Candia. Latorre said he is not aware of any concrete intention to move in that direction “for the moment”.
ABC Color recalled that the issue gained traction after the Senate mentioned inquiries about the possibility of promoting an impeachment to remove justices from the Court. The newspaper also noted that the three magistrates mentioned had been left out of a meeting held at the end of last year in Mburuvicha Róga between six members of the Court and President Santiago Peña.
According to the publication, the possible removal of those justices could only take place through impeachment. The process would have to begin in Diputados, where a two-thirds vote of those present is required to approve the accusatory bill. Based on the chamber’s 80 members, that equals 53 votes.
