Indert announced the regularization of land in two historic colonies in Caaguazú

The National Institute for Rural and Land Development (Indert) announced at a public hearing the progress of the mass titling of land in the colonies of Blas Garay and Genaro Romero, both located in the district of Coronel Oviedo, in Caaguazú, according to Agencia IP.
According to that outlet, Genaro Romero was founded in 1897 and Blas Garay in 1941. Both are identified as central rural settlements in the departmental capital, and the regularization of their plots was presented as a historic demand of their occupants.
During the event, Indert president Francisco Ruiz Díaz said the Government’s goal is to move forward with the mass regularization of plots belonging to the rural population benefiting from agrarian reform, with the intention of promoting their economic development, Agencia IP reported.
In that context, the official mentioned a bill promoted by the Executive Branch to provide the agency with resources and undertake the titling of some 12,000 plots belonging to small producers nationwide. The initiative includes the sale of land owned by the agency and occupied for decades at fair market price.
The proposal also provides that the 3% payment would only be required 12 months after the delivery of the property title, whereas at present that requirement must be met beforehand in order to access the document. It also contemplates extending payment deadlines for colonial plots for women heads of household and fathers, always according to Agencia IP.
The state outlet added that other communities in Caaguazú, such as Empalado, will also be reached by the legal regularization process. Earlier, nearly 2,500 plots had already been titled in Villa Constitución, in the district of Caaguazú.
Ruiz Díaz also said that the Government of Santiago Peña and Pedro Alliana plans to officially launch soon the program called Nueva Ruralidad, aimed at revitalizing the countryside and creating conditions for the rootedness of peasant families, young people, women and older adults.
