The Chamber of Senators is studying a bill that proposes a salary equalization for judicial mediators and also provides for a retirement system similar to that of magistrates and judicial clerks, according to La Nacion Paraguay.
The proposal was introduced by deputies Alejandro Aguilera and Federico Franco. This Wednesday, the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Upper House addressed the issue and decided to first request opinions from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Supreme Court of Justice before issuing its report.
According to that outlet, Gladys Alfonso de Barreiro, director of Mediation at the Supreme Court of Justice, took part in the meeting and highlighted the work of judicial mediators, describing them as highly trained officials with communication and procedural tools to carry out their duties.
