The national medium-length film El precio del Pasaje is moving forward with screenings at educational institutions in the interior of the country as part of the Escuelas Protectoras project, promoted by MINNA, MEC and MITIC.
According to MITIC Paraguay, the first sessions of the cycle were held at schools in Caacupé, Atyrá, Yaguarón and Carapeguá, in the departments of Cordillera and Paraguarí. A total of 580 adolescents took part in those screenings.
The proposal seeks to raise awareness, prevent and promote the protection of the rights of children and adolescents, with a focus on human trafficking. The audiovisual piece, inspired by real events, addresses the transnational trafficking of girls, boys and adolescents, as well as other situations such as domestic violence, abandonment and child servitude.
According to MITIC Paraguay, the material aims to expose the consequences of falling for false promises and trafficking networks, as well as to make visible the intervention route and support system for victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation.
The initiative also includes a pedagogical guide for teachers, designed to address the issue in the educational setting. MITIC Paraguay said that next week the screenings will continue in Misiones, in San Miguel and San Juan Bautista, and in Itapúa, in Encarnación and Cambyretá.
