The Government Transfers Security and Management of Olivos to the Casa Militar
The presidential residence will come under the purview of the Casa Militar in a process that, according to Presidencia, must be completed within up to 60 days. The decision includes the dissolution of the quinta’s administrative area and prompted union complaints over layoffs.
The Government decided that the Casa Militar will be fully responsible for security at the Olivos Presidential Residence and at the temporary residences used by Javier Milei and his family. According to the official statement, the transfer of responsibilities and assets will be completed within a maximum period of 60 days.
According to Presidencia, the measure seeks to strengthen the protection of the President and his inner circle, as well as to streamline internal administrative processes. In that context, the dissolution of the General Administration of the Olivos Presidential Residence was also ordered, with a separation of security, administration and oversight tasks to reduce the formal structure and the number of personnel remaining on the grounds.
The official statement framed the decision in the context of the global security situation and the preparations for Pope Leo XIV‘s visit to Argentina, which, according to the Government, will require the entry of outside personnel for works and services related to the preparation of the official visit.
Presidencia also noted that, in light of the powers of the Casa Militar and what is established by the National Defense Law, that agency will remain in charge of security at the Casa Rosada and at any place in the country or abroad where the head of state is located.
