The Frente Amplio is closely following the election in Brazil and strengthens its ties with the PT and China
The Uruguayan political force said it was on alert for any possible signs of destabilization in the Brazilian electoral process. At the same time, it advanced party agreements with the PT and the Communist Party of China.

The rapprochement between both parties also includes the organization of an international meeting of social movements scheduled for December 3 in Montevideo. Still according to Búsqueda, in the coming weeks a PT leader will present in Montevideo a study by the Observatory of Youth Against Extremism, an initiative promoted in 2025 by Yamandú Orsi, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Pedro Sánchez, Gabriel Boric and Gustavo Petro.
At the same time, the Frente Amplio signed in recent days an exchange and cooperation agreement with the Communist Party of China, Búsqueda reported based on several sources. The outlet noted that Pereira, who had visited China last year, was the one who promoted that understanding.
The FA’s international agenda also included a trip by Pereira to Colombia and Carolina Cosse’s participation in the 11th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong. According to Búsqueda, the vice president reported on X that she met with John Lee and Starry Lee, in addition to attending the summit’s opening speech and visiting the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
In this context, former foreign minister Omar Paganini argued, according to Búsqueda, that Uruguay must maintain its good relationship with China but avoid public gestures in a single direction. He also considered that the country lacked signals toward the United States and said diplomacy requires greater balance in that regard.
