Alliana called on Cartes to end impositions within Honor Colorado

Vice President Pedro Alliana held a one-on-one meeting this Wednesday with Horacio Cartes at the residence of the president of the National Republican Association, amid growing tension within Honor Colorado, according to Última Hora.
At the end of the meeting, Alliana acknowledged that the movement’s internal situation is going through a delicate moment, although he ruled out a rupture. He also said more dialogue is needed and questioned the disputes among different sectors of the ruling party, particularly among senators, governors and deputies.
According to Última Hora, the conflict deepened after Cartes confirmed on Tuesday Juan Carlos Baruja as vice presidential candidate, despite an agreement to announce that decision after the municipal elections on October 4. Alliana rejected that decision and later received the backing of governors in a meeting with President Santiago Peña at Mburuvicha Róga.
Alliana said that in Honor Colorado there should be no orders or impositions, only consensus. He also warned that he will not accept a candidacy being decided at a table without broader participation and said that if that style of leadership continues, he is willing to step aside.
